A performance lecture about memory, trauma and medicine.
The Anatomy Lecture Theatre is based on Rosa’s encounter with the Anatomy Lecture Theatre at the University of Cape Town. An encounter with the uncanny, both familiar and terrifying. Taking her position as the student/spectator she was looking down from a distance onto the stage in a place shaped like a cave or a womb. She sat in the “home of knowledge” facing forwards, in a phallic direction, a phallic line, a phallic time, back turned on origin.
“We leave the theatre feeling as if we’ve been given an insight into something intangible yet nonetheless profound.” The Stellenbosch Literary Project
